I questioned him about it he apparently isn't aware that you can only get those alloys with the entry level 7 seater and that the S spec comes with 18", I've pointed him towards the LR website and told him to build an S spec, so he can see which size of alloy is fitted as standard. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

I questioned him as well but tonight he has posted the following
"FOR ALL THOSE EBAYERS WHO HAVE EMAILED ME ABOUT THIS MODEL, I HAVE CONTACED LAND ROVER AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THE "S" MODEL IS A BASE MODEL AND YOU ORDER THE EXTRAS YOU WANT. THIS IS A LEGAL S MODEL AND LAND ROVER HAVE NOT LABELLED ANY S MODELS WRONGLY. IF YOU WISH TO CLARIFY PLEASE CALL LAND ROVER ON 08705-000-500 (8.30 - 5.30 PM) YOURSELF. (THIS CAR HAS AIR SUSPENSION)."
Oh well we tried to help

He's a 'She' - 5ft and pregnant - husband bought the car for her she finds it too difficult getting in and out only knows what her husband had told her about the spec....looks like he's added cruise control and parking sensors as extras to a base 7, notice it doesn't have the steering wheel controls which is another giveaway AND mine also has a S on it but it definitely what I ordered...an entry level 7, so LANDROVER there are vehicles out there which have been misbadged although you swear there isn't. 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

Misbadged D3's are pretty common...
There is an 'SE' locally that is plainly and S
No Sat Nav
No Front Fogs
No Leather
No Auto setting on the headlight control...
Owner convinced its and SE as this is how it was sold by Droitwich LR. Pointed out the missing features and the fact that my car is a S and specced the same. He is now talking to his dealer

Only just noticed but there are no rear parking sensors on that vehicle, or cruise control on the steering wheel, no heated seats as well. I feel really sorry for them now knowing that it is a definite LR cock up as it is not going to be worth anywhere near what they think. LR should be made to pay if it is there fault.

I'm going to play Devil's Avocado here and say that if the seller has a receipt from Land Rover with 'S' on it, the car came with an 'S' on it, then as far as he, the likely purchaser and perhaps the Fraud Squad are concerned, it's an 'S', so no need to change the advertisement
It doesn't seem surprising that LR are backing him - after, all there are no problems with any D3s, are there?
If you're buying on ebay, it's certainly a case of do your research and ask questions - this recent ebay story shows the danger of not reading - I'd say there may be intent to deceive, but I'd be hard to prove in a court. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

She has now removed the S from the listing.
Told me her husband is going to have a word with the dealer....
Good luck to both of them! The End

LR sold a lot of early S spec models with SE badges - I know as I've seen a few of them in recent weeks whilst trying to source a car. They are what is now S spec, minus cold climate pack but with Sat Nav.

The first test drive I had back in Jan 05 was in a 'S', and it was the variant with only 5 seats ??? . I had a minor moan about the lack of, well just about everything, and they quickly de-canted into another 'S' but this time with more bells and whistles... sounds like there could be a few rouges out there... ..............Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

Mine (Jan 05) is a base 7 seater, which is what I paid for, but has the S badge.
