ECU update

Hi,

IIDTool shows there is available update for V8 4,4 engine. Any idea what does this update do, is it worth to spend 29€ for it?

Thank you for your help!
Smile

The general rule for these IID updates has always been, if its not broken don't fix it..... Smile but I'm more than happy to be recommended otherwise.

Ideally you don’t want to upgrade ECUs unless you know there is a problem. Unlike the software industry, the car manufacturers have other upgrade policies....

You can ask GAP what it contains but usually release notes aren’t available.

Please take a look at this recent thread that summarizes the useful upgrades on D3.

Thank you for your prompt responses, much appreciated!

I was just wondering since I googled this code from the report (9H22-14C204-FBC), I found similar from page https://chiptuning-ecu.com/land-rover/rang...4-300-315:

And it says following; NNN500451 85006 9H22-14C204-FBC
Dynamic remapping with stronger acceleration. Torque-based model is optimized. The response of electronic accelerator pedal is imvproved. It changes limits of Vmax, torque and fuel injection. Catalytic converter and O2 sensor off.

79 EUR

Can it be the same code?

I would imagine that the tuning shop states that they have a remap for that particular software load. The reason for this is that most likely the remap config is stored as a data structure somewhere and bad things happen if you write it in the wrong area or in a wrong format. Kind of depends on how the ECU is built as an embedded system...

Usually there isn’t a file system (like you’d have in an operating system like windows or macOS) but instead on boot an memory image is blindly loaded and executed from whatever the storage media is.
