EGR advice

Got the EGR blanks, awaiting the iminent holiday arrival of the other legend Nick, whom I have requested NEW bolts n Gaskets, then ready for a Blanking day.

Anybody out there that can help me, moral support or pointers in the WHOLE procedure in blanking and Butterflie removal.

Mr. Green

Not me mate, I'm alright bolting things to the outside but all that mechanical stuff scares the Censored out of me!
Make sure you have your big hammer ready lol,
take plenty of photos and do a write up, the ladder one you did was a cracker mate and a great aid to anyone who's never fitted one. Thumbs Up

If you're not confident Jason, get a professional to do it.

apart from TFC, none would do it I guess. Its not the done thing is it, they would suggest replacing a EGR rather than blank it.

SO my quest continues, copiously drowning the offending bolts in WD40 in readiness for a splurt of courage Laughing

was never a fan of doing it, I admit, but I suspect an iminent failure of a EGR, sooooooooo much lag, and smoke on booting, funds will allow blanking at present, so having to go that approach.

Worked well in my TD5, and thinking outside the box I think its best I blank NOW, before I am left stranded. Have followed the threads on how to, and really should'nt be out of my capability, just the kick up the Censored needed really.

Jason - your car's only a youngun that's hardly been round the block, so the bolts will come out no problem. A squirt of WD might help, but stop faffing and get under there with yer socket set lad! You can get the bolts from B&Q for about 10p each if you really need to - the size you need is in one of the the many EGR threads - M6 x 20 I think, or thereabouts. Reusing the existing gaskets is fine - just put them on the EGR valve side of the blank, with a smear of instant gasjet to hold it all together and you'll be fine Thumbs Up
