EGR Faults

OK,

Mines a 2005 TDV6
Butterfly removed
Venturi in air throttle crimped

Checked the ECM tonight.

P140A00 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor C - Circuit Low
P140E00 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor C Minimum Maximum Stop Performance
P040200 Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Excessive Detected

Should I be worried? I'm not sure where it got the last one from, excessive? I would have thought it should be the opposite.

The others are for the LHS valve, maybe it's failed.

I cleared the faults and will see if they return.

Do I need new EGRV just to keep the ECM happy? I fear it may be cramping my style.
 Have a nice day!

Drove 400km today, mostly between 90 and 110km/hr.

Fuel cons didn't get better than 21mpg Crying or Very sad

Just checked DTC

The first two above came back.

Is there a way of tricking the sensor or do I now have to replace the LHS EGRV??

(I find it a bit odd that if a part fails that is solely there for emission control, the EMS retards performance, thus increasing fuel consumption and theerfore increasing emissions. Rolling Eyes )

PS Just incase anyone was wondering, it's extremely unlikely that this failure is a result of blocking the EGR system. I onyl did it a few weeks ago, so there wasn't enough time. The EGRV must have been on it's way out already.

What about clearing the faults again then unplugging the connector? From what others have posted, unplugging the connector doesn't seem to cause performance problems.

I don't see how that would work.

The car would still try to check the operation of the valve on start up and not be able to do so.

I haven't noticed much of a drop off in performance, but the fuel usage has increased to around 14-15 litres/100km.

No, Caver, unfortunately not. I'll have it an the rear diff done when I'm next in Perth. But that may not be for a while yet.

Every time I switch off and restart, the faults on the LHS ERGV are logged, so on Monday I'll ring Perth and see if I can get one sent down. Otherwise, I'll call on TLO.

I've read Disco Mikey's thread ( Thumbs Up ) and it seems pretty straight forward.
