EGR Valves - have new ones solved the problem of failure?

I've got a failed EGR valve and I am deciding on replacement or the fitting of the blanking plates to my '55 reg Disco. Have Landrover fixed the failure mechnisums on these EGR valves or if I fit replacements/new ones can I just expect a repeat failure in another 50K miles?

Thanks, Josh

They are going to fail again, would blank, it would seem this problem is not exclusive to Landrover though, many reports of other makes having similar failures.
nice little earner though

It isn't a fault, it's just the price that has to be paid for meeting emission regulations, same as many other cars.....ask most vauxhall owners!
Most garages are seeing EGR valves as mileage replacement items now, same as spark plugs used to be Neutral

Steve

Anything new I don't trust, stuck with my trusty '98 TDI golf for 220K miles. Looked at several new cars with this stop/start technology and didn't like it. Regenarative braking, stop and starting of the engine...... once it's out of warrenty I wouldn't touck it with a barge pole!!
