Electric Brake Control Unit |
|
Hi,
I'm new to the forum and couldn't find any posts on brake control units but if this topic has been covered previously then apologies for starting a new thread
Just bought a 06 HSE at the end of Nov 09. Going to be used for some touring and towing our horses.
Had a Hayes Energize III brake control unit fitted which has never worked properly (fitted by pedders in Brisbane- wired incorrectly initially- found this out when we were testing the horse float and the brakes were surging but the real drama came when we turned the main lights on in the car and the float's brakes locked up!). It was rewired by LR garage in Brisbane and the float brakes continued to surge upon the gentlest of touches of the brake pedal (even with the gain set to minimum). Took our car back to LR who advised the brake control unit was knackered and we should get a new one and get an autoelectrician to fit it. (LR said they do not produce a brake control unit and wouldn't fit it for us? Pretty average service I thought)
Essentially, I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a brake control unit- from searching the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 seems to be pretty popular and reliable? (going to be used for towing 2 big horses in a twin axle 2 horse straight float)
Also if anyone can recommend an autoelectrician in the Brisbane/ South East Queensland area that would be greatly appreciated.

Do search; you will find a few threads on th subject. There is one very neat install under the ashtray. There are some issues with the install as the D3 is different from Jap crap, so make sure your installer knows the D3. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Would you happen to have the link to the guides and photos?
Cheers

OzDisco,
Try typing the address in to the web address bar on top of the page instead of clicking on it, works for me. see how it goes. Otherwise drop into the Search section of Aust & Newzealand, Maintenance & Mods, terry_girgis, 09 March '09, should come up pronto.
