Electronic Handbrake

Hi

We have a 54 reg Disco 3 which has just started to make, what only can be described as a clunking noise when the handbrake is put on. For the first time (last Sunday) the handbrake failed to go on. A screeching noise happened and then the dashboard light flashed. However when the ignition was turned off and then on again the handbrake worked perfectly.

I have consulted a local garage, who says the handbrake may need to be striped down and cleaned which will cost in excess of £200. Not what we wanted to here!

Can anyone help with this issue? Any suggestions or instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
 Regards

Amanda

Welcome to the site Thumbs Up

Do a search for EPB or Screamer and you'll see lots of posts on the issue
It does sound as though yours needs a spot of TLC though it shouldn't cost that much, it may well be worth your while emailing site sponsor 10forcash for a more competitive quote to do the work

If you've got someone handy with a spanner, it's not difficult to adjust yourself.
