Electronic Park Brake Fault Discovery 4 EPB

Hello

I've encountered an issue with my EPB. After leaving my car with the EPB on overnight, I noticed it felt like it was stuck when driving away, and I heard a clonk from the rear end. The fault message appeared on my dash when I tried to apply the brake.

I can hear the motor engaging, and the brake holds slightly but not fully. The fault light appears when I start the car, but it goes out if I switch the car off and on again.

Where should I start to fix this issue?

Thanks in advance!

Diagnostic codes should be your first port of call, but it sounds like maladjusted or partly seized hand brake shoes.

If you look in the Wiki section above you will find information on servicing the rear handbrake shoes as well as the brakes in general. Follow and understand the guide carefully before attempting any work and your issue will be easily enough to resolve. Thumbs Up
