Only about 6 weeks remaining - so I have the beast booked in next week.
15 items to be repaired/replaced and will be off the road for up to four days. "LR - the ultimate off-road vehicle"
Is there anything I should keep an eye out for? Front diff leak fixed at last service.
Cheers,
Rob

Hmm... that would help!
Here is the list so far:
1. Check brake pads warning light just came on dash today 12/11/09.
2. Clunk in transmission – when slowing down to approach a roundabout and then touching the accelerator, a loud “thump†can be heard.
3. Transmission message “F†and “limited gears available†has appeared once on each of the last two off-road trips. Power off and on temporarily fixes this.
4. Clunk in steering column over bumps (off-road)
5. Cruise control sometimes doesn’t work – no response to any buttons being pressed. Power off and on temporarily fixes this.
6. Middle row near side seat will not lock down flat.
7. Rear row off side seat seat belt socket will not pop up when seat is lifted, nor fold down when seat folded away. This was reported at last service. (Part was meant to be ordered from UK).
8. Near side A pillar exterior black plastic trim rattles/squeaks at certain speeds/wind direction. (Possibly retaining clips worn out?)
9. Off side interior A pillar airbag cover warped out of shape
10. Windscreen cowl – discoloured and scratched
11. Steering wheel airbag – curled along the top, back edge. Please get new part – LR012986. This is under TSB LTB00203).
12. Driver’s seat base creaks – sounds like a broken frame.
13. Steering wheel – has white spots at 10-to-2 position.
14. Rear passenger door out of alignment – sticks out from body further than the driver’s side.
15. Check if rear e-diff software update (to recalibrate) has been applied.

Hi Wayne - I drove Norto's D3 down at Moruya and mine was definitely worse. I also reported it as a fault at the last service (72,000km) and they fixed it by putting a new program in the gearbox. It didn't work.
Cheers,
Rob

If you are a member of a motor club such as NRMA or RACQ they do an end of factory warranty inspection and provide you with a list. It costs about $170 but on my last 2 cars they found well over $3k of stuff that i should ask to be fixed/replaced before the warranty expired.
Right down to sun visors (seam was splitting around the mirror), and cracked drink holders. They agree they are very pedantic but state that if you are paying them for a list of everything then they'll give you a list of everything.
With my old commodore they even coached me on what the dealer would say to try to get out of fixing a gear box seal! (and the dealer did try to get out of it)
For both cars I handed over the list and said "I want all of this fixed".
I'll be doing the same with my D3 in about 14 months time....unless SWMBO lets me get that RRS
....and that looks promising. She says I have 2 chances. None and Buckley's 2012 MY13 SDV6 SE D4 Ipanema Sand with Almond leather
2012 TDI Passat - they reckon the DSG is crap, I reckon it's awesome
2010 MY11 Mitsubishi Challenger - Gone (it was a "Challenging Year")
2007 MY08 TDV6 SE - gone

I had what I thought was an identical "thunk" in the transmission/drive train and the dealer is replacing the front bushes to fix it (under the extended warranty). The're having to cut out the bolts holding it all together today. A year ago I did the transmission double-flush and what changed was the lack of a "shudder" at certain low accelerations instead of a "thunk". Rob have you thought about the Allianz new vehicle Extended warranty, Alto offer it, a further 3 years or up to a total max KM of 160K,w hich ever comes first.. Used in anger already and mine only came out of warranty at the end of March.. I think you have to get it before the LR warranty expires
Including GST it cost $2,100 for the full 3 year period another Pommie from the darkside

You have to get it before factory one expires.
You need to speak to the folks in the Volvo dealers opposite the LR one. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Ok - 84k service done; front pads replaced; new gearbox program... again new dash program; and... nothing much else. Lots of parts on order - so will need to be off the road for another time to install the parts - whenever they arrive. And that assumes they will let me know the parts have arrived (unlike previous occasions).
Oh well, it feels a lot nicer than a corolla - three days of that gutless PoS was as much as I could stand!
