Engine light on and loss of power

Hit my first puzzler with our D3 auto - maybe someone can give some guidance

Had search on here but threads keep pointing to EGRs but at end last year we experienced problems with loss of power (but no light on) and smoke when accelerating so I blanked both EGRs and all has been good since.

However, a couple of weeks ago my missus said she was doing about 20mph and the engine warning light came on for a short time and she lost power. It went off again before she could stop and all seemed to go back to normal - no further problems until ..........

Today, engine light came on with loss of power - limped it to a layby - ignition off/on and set off again. Problem repeated within less than 1/2 mile so back into a layby. We reset the car (getting our locking doors etc) and it then made it home (25 miles) without any repeat problems, no lights etc.

Any ideas what this is a symtom of????

Car running well to/from garage - codes found were:-

P0405 Exhaust gas recirculation senser A circuit
P140E Exhaust gas recirculation position senser low minimun / maximum stop performance
P140A Exhaust gas recirculation senser C circulation low
P2290 Injector control pressure low
P1335 Exhaust gas recirculator position senser minimun stop performance

All codes cleared so going to run it and see how it goes

P2290 pointed owards fuel problems so we checked the filter and it looked like it had never been changed! We put a new one on and then a few days later it dropped into limp mode again when under hard acceleration (slip road) and gave the following codes:-

P0405 Exhaust gas recirculation senser A circuit
P140E Exhaust gas recirculation position senser low minimun / maximum stop performance
P140A Exhaust gas recirculation senser C circulation low
P2290 Injector control pressure low

All a repeat of previous.

The EGRs are not causing the engine light/power loss problem (they are blanked and ours is MY06). Everything is pointing to a fuel problem. Codes reset this week. When it does it again (and assuming it is P2290 again) the car is off to a specialist to find out what on the fuel system is causing the trouble.

Cheers
