Hey guys,
Probably my first post for a few years, I joined when buying my disco 3 and used it to decipher if my 07 hse had a defective oil pump, out of precaution I changed it along with genuine Landy oil seal, new belts pullys and tensioners, along with rear belt,
Well all had been good for about 2 years and went to Service the car over new year, and discovered oil all over the under tray, took it off, and everything was caked, washed the underside Down with brake cleaner to try and Id the leak, I was unable to so carried on with the service
Next drive I had a peek under and could see oil coming from what appeared to be the bottom of the tell-tail on the cam cover... was thinking the crank seal, so proceeded to strip it down, crank seal was dry but there was a considerable leak visible from the R/H bank camshaft seal, new seals ordered and fitted, rebuilt, after a full wash down,
Just taken for a spin and brought it home and there’s engine oil dripping down onto the front diff so it appears the engine oil leak isn’t from the crank/ cam seals,
I have checked the sump that’s in good order even around the temp sensor,
So has anyone any ideas? What could be leaking engine oil above the front diff? Looking up I can’t see anything, I plan on getting it on the ramp with a mirror and a good inspecting while it’s running. ?? 🤷♂️

front dif is on the left side of the engine. if you find oil in there better check turbo, oil feed to turbo, maybe?

maybe then go under the car and with a torch spend some time looking where the oil comes from. i know the space is tight and identifying the source is difficult but i cant think of any other place there to look.

Bit of an update, no oil coming from turbo pipes bottom oil return or top oil feed completely dry, have been lay under it now for a good half hour running with no witness signs of oil, it must be blowing out under load from somewhere? Bloody thing!

Right, took it for a run after everything cleaned down, and it’s definitely dripping out of the tell-tail on the cam cover now when I took it apart the first time there were no witness marks of oil from the crank seal, and no traces of oil around the crank pully, so I’m wondering could I have damaged the camshaft seal on install?? If it was the oil pump seal leaking it wouldn’t be coming out of the dam cover? Looks like I’m going to have to strip it down again, Fuks sake
