Engine system warning and cruise control

My first electronic issue - travelling down the motorway with cruise on at 80, have to slow down to 70 for a police car the I press resume on the steering wheel and the car accelerates and then loses all power (in the fast lane) and engine system failure comes up on the display. I pull over ans switch the car off and start off OK. Did I ask too much of the car to accelerate from 70 to 80 in sixth whilst in cruise control?

Any one else suffered this?

Hi Simon,
Not much help but, my TDV6 S has never had any trouble resuming cruise between 70 and 80.

Sounds like a computer hickup or similar. Have you tried it since to see if it accelerates from 70 to 80 MPH.

Maybe it was the police with a bit of electronic gadgetry (it does exist) which stops you going over 70 mph in their presence Very Happy
