My D3 is showing significant loss in performance and poor mpg, so it will have to be sorted. Mike

Had no smoke or increase in mpg.

Hi Ian,
You are right that it is in 56 plate and later vehicles (rather than post 2007 as mentioned by AWD man). However it is in the Euro IV engines, rather than Euro 7).
I believe that having the eml on doesn't necessarily mean the engine will perform badly, although I suspect that it won't be performing as well as it should. However, the bigger problem is that, if another fault develops, the eml won't indicate it to you as it's already on.
Best Wishes,

Hi folks.
D3 back up and running, both EGR's replaced.
Does anyone know if the old ones can be serviced?
They are heavy with carbon deposits, but look like they should clean up
thanks

EML Light "OFF" after 10 months "ON"? |
|
Got in the car yesterday to take my daughter to her school bus collection and nearly had a seizure when I saw I had a dark dashboard with no cautions illuminated. It stayed off till I got home, and remained off when I took my son to school. I didn't use the car again yesterday. DId the same thing again today; no EML light illumiated. I've also done 2 20 mile journeys with no EML light illuminated. Thoughts, chaps, other by doing nothing I've maybe saved a few hundred quid?
And before anyone asks the EML does illumiate on the slf check at start-up.
Thanks. D3 HSE, Stornoway grey, 2007 MY, side steps, privacy glass, door protection strips.

sticking egr rather than failed egr OR your light was NOT egr related OR you've been using fuel additives on a regular basis

It couldnt last....bounced in a smaall pothole this morning and the light came back on! I did have id diagnosed as a faulty N/S EGR in Jan/Feb by the stealer. Is removal and cleaning etc. an option? D3 HSE, Stornoway grey, 2007 MY, side steps, privacy glass, door protection strips.

you can try (someone did fill theirs up with Diesel & let it soak in) but it will inevitably fail again...... Bodsys Brake Bible

Bugga! So there's absolutley no way to have an EGR blanking kit fitted to a 2009 tdv6? Not even with any clever ECU reprogramming?

Apparently, there is a patch that can be applied with an Autologic system. Cant remember where I read it, and if it works or not. Never had to do it myself My D3 Build Thread

Mine developed this fault on Saturday - 15mins into a 13 hour journey. EML on and limp home mode engaged. Pulled off the motorway - restarted - no problem - EML off.
This happened every 15mins for the first 45mins. A bit worried I decided that if it made it to Basel OK I would continue - if not I would head home and grab another car. (EML now on)
It made it all the way to the first stop without problem. Restarted (light on). 15min later it died again. My restart procedure now had got to - into neutral - ignition to 0 - and then restart.
7.25 hours after leaving Zurich we arrived in Calais. The fast section from Reims to Calais had cost 12.1 l/100km - or around 23mpg - at a steady 85mph cruise.
Feeling unimpressed but sanguine I filled again with diesel. Restarted - no light - and smoother performance. In managed the run from Dover to my parents (320km) on just over 1/4 tank (indicated) of fuel - 60-75mph.
I am off to a former Rolls Royce/Bentley mechanic friend this morning to get the codes read.
Anyone know whether EGRs fall under most warranties?
