Engine warning light and strange noise from front? |
|
The orange engine light (the one without the exclamation mark) has just appeared whilst SWMBO was driving the car, earlier in the day she was sure it took two attempts to go into reverse (auto). There is also a very intermittent squeaking noise from front pass side. Can anyone shed any light if these are connected in any way? The handbook mentions "petrol engines only" then mentions emissions problems as well.
I will call LRA out to check in the morning and car is already going in for EPB next week so I hope it can wait till then. Car is fine in all other ways.
Just wondered if anyone has had anything that sounds the same.
Thanks in advance as always.

don't know anything about this - but seeing as you are fairly local to me, just wondering what dealer you are taking the D3 to ?

At the moment Lookers Chelmsford, Hadleigh has closed and moved into the one branch which is a real shame as a friend was really happy at Hadleigh with his car. Car going in next Tuesday so will judge them after that, the Tech Paul who I have met seems a top bloke. I believe you use Beadles at Sidcup who seem to be rated highly on here.

Just had LRA out to have a look.
Fault codes P1335-21 and P0405-21 EGR Sensor "A".
That can wait till next week
Great service by LRA and really nice guy. Well done LRA.

Just had the same light come up on our Diesel 07 XS a few days ago! Is it serious? Like you said in the handbook it says the light only refers to a petrol engine fault.
Cheers,
Rich

Did you get anywhere with your light as I have the same problem - on the way home tonight the light came on - car drives fine apart from the light is on??
Have you been to the dealer ?? What did they say??
Thanks

EGR valve on one of the engine banks stuck 16% open. Going in to stealer tomorrow to be replaced, been driving fine for last week. MPG may be a bit lower mind you. Seems to be an EGR shortage so maybe ring around various garages to see who has some.

Oldpostbob,
Car is going in this morning for a day or two so will be able to let you know after that.
The light has made no difference to how the car drives, just like yours.
Will update as soon as I find out.

EGR replaced today, MPG has shot up and car feels a lot smoother and powerful to drive. Amazing what effect it can have when they play up, really notice the difference now it is fixed

Hopefully getting the car back today, they have said they are replacing the EGR v/v's.
Is the warning light there for the EGR valves? There is no mention in the handbook, it only makes reference to the petrol engine re the warning light?
Dealer also says the tyres are ready for changing, so it looks like it is time to find some AT2's!!
Can not wait for it to come back as the 'loaner' is a Rover 25 and it is no fun getting three kids in seats & 2 adults to fit inside!!
