Yep LTA 7, lots of good viewing spots as well according to Google. Shame it's so far away, too far for a day trip.

Great shots Pelyma, I know the 60D as a caamera is a good upgrade from the 350d, I stpidly thought the HD video side would be worthwhile with the kids still young, perhaps its pilot error but i really strugle to get focus spot on manually cranking the lens around whenever they move any distance, never buy a hammer to put screws in

You are right Paul the 60D should by definition be the better camera as it sits in the "advanced amateur \ midrange " of the family. Don't forget that it's a few years old now and due to be replaced by the 70D which will I imagine have video support to the latest standard.
I don't do enough shooting to warrant mid to high end cameras as yet ...hence why the 650d suited my needs but agree that the 60D will (and should) take the better shot 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I'm printing that first bit off for prosperity I bought mine 2 years ago and a a while after a 30D second hand for my son from MPB Photographic. The cameras are out of date as soon as you buy them, but better quality ones from higher up the range make better buys second hand and buying glass second hand is even better. I looked at renting an L series lens when my daughter qualified for the Royal International Horse Show but I ended up buying the lens second hand, as long as I look after it I'll loose less than the hire would cost. 135mm f2.0 L next on the list DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

It's not what number your camera's got on the front... it's how you use it!

Quote:135mm f2.0 L next on the list
Not one that I own - but I have used one briefly on my old 5D - lovely lens, though a touch too long on a crop camera for typical distance head/shoulder shots IMHO.
I did play with a 200-400 f4L with the built in 1.4x converter yesterday at the focus show, on a 1Dx. Wonderful combination. Very hand-holdable, even at 560mm. No idea of price, but I guess having to ask means I can't afford it when it comes out
Most of my lenses have been bought second hand or refurbs from Canon. All of my L's I reckon I could sell for more than I paid for them, though that is just a result of the new prices now being stupid. Mark.

I mainly take photos of my daughter competing on her pony a 70-200 f4 L is great outdoors, but doesn't cut the mustard in doors, but the 135mm does. I did consider just buying the 70-200 f2.8 but I thought this gave me more flexibility.
I agree it is not the camera model that makes the shot, but if the camera does not have the ability to make the shot then you are stuffed. I sat with a friend who is a pro at a dog show, she had a EOS 1 and the ability to handle high ISOs wiped the floor with my camera, she got a great shot I got a noisy mess But you only have to look on Flickr and see superb shots take with a camera phone. I thought the 60D was really good in low light? A lot depends on which EOS1 you're talking about, but as someone who also earns a living from many different camera's, I do know that when a pro reaches the limit of the camera's capabilities, they change the shot. They are never stuffed - because if they were, they wouldn't eat!
Even with unlimited budget, there's always something better, it never stops!

Canon are working on a new 35mm cmos for video ...look at the low light capability. Be interesting to see if this makes its way into EOS

I guess it depends what you are taking photos of, but dogs and horses move quickly and shots of blurry heads or legs don't sell too well. The photos that the 1D took at the same high ISO were significantly less noisy than my 60D - lucky I'm not a pro Although seeing some of the pro equine photographers and people buy their pictures.
