EPB Fault light

The wife’s just called apparently that’s twice now She has had the fault light come on, it clears obviously but it seems to have just started. We don’t often use the EPB only once parked in the drive, habit more than anything. Could be my EPB needs serviced ??? There slight screech noise a while back but not heard it since ??

Yes defiantly, Full strip, clean, lubricate relevant areas, re-fit and adjust. Bodsy's brake bible will tell you everything you need to know if you are planning on tackling it yourself. Thumbs Up

I also assume the guide applies to a Disco 4 as well .

Edit, you beat me to it,

Yes it's the same except i don't know if it's the same procedure to put in service mode as i haven't stripped my D4 yet.

Which stikes me as a really good reason to use the EPB regularly to do what it was designed to do!

Yep fair point but being an auto I don’t feel the need to use it other than parking up ! Anyway will grab some brake cleaner and other stuff , doesn’t seem to complicated ! Just the usual crap weather time of year Laughing

Forgot I had this thread ! Well I’ve now had one side of and cleaned and adjusted. The other side I could not get off even with the ratchet wound right back! Anyway adjusted it and put back together. Fault light came back on right away Sad Not sure what else it can be ?? Other than the actuator playing up from time to time?? Very weird , fault comes on when driving not even when you have released the epb ?? Help !!

Edit

The fact that I could not get the right rear disc off may suggest that maybe an issue?? Could not persuade it off at all with the mallet !!

Forgot to also say that I had some basic fault codes read by a mates code reader. U2002 is the code which is a general electric failure. Its intermittent not permanent as well. Searching the net and on here, I see lots of stuff on D3 wiring but not D4. I have seen issue been talked about on here with the switch itself and the actual EPB module. The modules have usually gone after jamming etc. Mine has never jammed and handbrake has worked ok? Coming round to the idea of a connection issue???

Hopefully someone will be able to give you some ideas as to what else you can try, as I am sure it has been covered on here a few times in the past.

At least you are able to do things yourself, as when mine stuck, I had to pull the emergency release and even with my independents prices, it was almost £1,000 to replace and sort out.

Well decided to ply around with the actual switch. Pulled the plug from it, reinserted. Have also been under the back of the car but it’s very hard to get to the actual epb module. I can see it but it’s tucked away. Anyway found another couple of plugs at the rear offside wheel arch and have removed and squirted in some contact cleaner . Unable to bring the fault back on just now . Question
