Afternoon everyone. So my LR3 2005 has had a jet wash clean before Xmas as a treat, but then when I drove it the amber brake light stays on and the red light flashes. The message says parking brake fault. After an hour drive I stopped and restarted it and no lights came on. Then after the hour drive home it came on as I tried to apply the brake. The brake isn’t stuck on it just doesn’t work and it’s not every time the lights come on, but it doesn’t engage the hand brake at all. Could this be the switch?
Thanks in advance No problems, only solutions

Its always best to get the fault codes because this will tell you more about the problem and when you have the code you can get it decifered by someone on the forum.
There can be a power issue so when trying to activate a cable is shorted or grounded.
If the plastic housing is cracked there could also be water entering the electronics inside.
At least it dosent sound that it is mechanical because this normaly gives a loud grinding noise.
It can still be mechanical due to motor not sensing torque when pulling the cables and then it sets a fault code.
A fault code reader is a cheap investment.

Its most likely that water has got into the wiring connector on the side of the edp.
Remove the plug and clean it with electrical cleaner

Hi,
I have very similar issue with my Discovery 3, Amber light is on, and the red light flashes, also sometimes the bing noise will just be continuous until I switch the ignition off and on again.
I got "General Switch Electrical fault" on the code reader, I tried replacing the switch and erasing the codes but it's still on, any idea where I should try now? Could it be the wiring to the switch from the module?
Everything is dry, (especially right now in the heatwave so I don't think moisture is my issue)
I bought the discovery like this, so I'm not sure if there's been other symptoms that have happened that I've not seen (perhaps emergency parking brake was pulled?)
Any advice would be most appreciated
Many thanks

I solved mine it was the power cable that goes along the chassis frame and back to the module.
I detected a voltage there but when hooking up a power draw with a light bulbe there was nothing.
Spliced in a ned cable from the air compressor area ang bakwards to the module and now its working perfect again and has so for several months.
Its a Youtube film about this topic so just search for it.

Awesome, thank you for your reply, is the cable located within the interior or exterior of the chassis?

Its exterior and just in front og the air suspension compressor there is a black cable housing that you can split with a stanley knife and you will see a yellow green cable aprox 3,0 mm, there will be romm to take it out and cut and splice it preferably by soldering and a chrimp.
Now just run a new cable backwwards to the module preferably with a kind of protection tube where you just run it throug and strips it wher it safe for movement.
Splice it in near the module and up and running you are.
If you have the budsjet buy a cable and connect it to the positive battery terminal and temporary connect it to the two power cables near the connector to the module by just cut of some plastic protection and wind it on.
Repair with electro tape if the still persists.

Hey Kviasen,
I really appreciated your replies, they were helpful. Unfortunately I never actually got round to diagnosing the full issue with the brake. I ended up selling the discovery even though I loved the vehicle, but hopefully I will get another in the future, and at least I will have more information now if I ever come across the issue! Thanks again!
