Exhaust crossover - urgent opinion needed!!
Hi all - my 170k D4 has developed a crossover exhaust fault. Whooshing sound when under load, loss of boost pressure and loads of exhaust soot on the underside. All turbo boost pipes are OK so I am quite sure it’s the crossover.
My question - is it safe to drive? I get the occasional Restricted Performance code that I can clear with the IID Tool.
It’s several weeks until I can get the car into a garage to have it replaced and will likely cover 3k miles in that time.
Opinions please!!!
Thanks

Depends where its leaking and what direction the hit gas is coming from
If its towards the engine, you run the risk of melting the HPFP belt covers and belt, even the wiring loom, or if going towards the brake pipes, you can boil the brake fluid within
