Expansion tank woes!

Hi all,
Wondering if anyone can shed some light on this? I've just spent a lovely albeit slightly drizzly hour and a half swapping my expansion tank on my 08 GS manual, as I was getting the low coolant level warning. I'd read as it was usually the sensor in the tank and that the sensor was located at the bottom of the tank, it was easier to just replace the whole thing. The new unit is a German made Meyle tank from Allmakes, so should be good?
However on fitting it and starting up, and of course topping up, I've still got the warning sign up!
I can see a fuse related to the sensor in the fuse box to check, so is there any kind of reset that needs doing, or can anyone think of what I should check next?
Many thanks
Jeff

I did mine today also. All went OK.

Did you test the new sensor by plugging it in?

Have you topped up since running the motor as the coolant will drop?

Did you release the pipe clamps?

Not suggesting you didn't, just food for thought. I had to top up twice.

Did you plug the sensor back in Laughing

Maybe a wiring fault. Bridge the two connector wires together to prove

Whats your antifeeze like, the float will not float in water it has to have the correct amount of antifreeze.

I didn't test the new one first as I didn't think it would work without being in the tank and it being filled. I did check the level a couple of times and it was topped back up with proper coolant.

Interesting to note though having been out for an hour or so today, although the orange exclamation light beneath the water temp gauge is still illuminated, the info panel no longer shows ' low coolant level ' at any time?

So something has worked but not all of it! Anyone got any ideas?

Try a hard reset Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

The orange ! on a D3 is to do with the brakes.
Usually low brake pads. (could be front left or rear right? would be where I would look first)

Get a code reader on it. Water level is red. you must have another fault.
