I remember seeing in another thread info about extended warranty.
I have just returned from the local dealer after having a 36k service and I asked him about it.
He knew nothing and he also checked with his financial blokes and they also know nothing but would like to know any details.
Would all who have been able to get the extension please advise me who is actually doing it and details.
Regards
Bob

I asked at my dealer (via email) but no reply yet. It has been 2 weeks now so I suspect it doesn't exist through LRA or my contact is on A/L still.

Hi Bob,
I bought an extended warranty when I purchased my disco in jan last year. It provides 6 years/160,000km. I don't recall the provider but could dig up the name if you really want it. However, the deal was bundled with my finance and it wasn't available after purchase.
I decided on the warranty because I plan to keep the vehicle for at least 5 years, if not more, and I didn't want any sleepless nights. Let's face it - LR doesn't have the best reliability record in this country. As it is, my alternator failed just before christmas (less than 12 months old/17,000kms) and was replaced under standard warranty. Hopefully that was just bad luck.

so is the extended warranty provided by the finance company, LRA, or a third party? Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?

Hi,
My extended warranty is part of the finance on the vehicle. My dealer uses Ford finance who don't offer it but the LR finance person at the dealer 'shopped around' and found that Alliance would do it for $1980 for 3 years and 60,000 on top of the 3/100,000 factory one.
Ford finance apparently said that as the GVM of the vehicle is greater than 3.1 tons they wouldn't/couldn't do it!! regards
Peter

Hi Bob,
I also got 3 years extended warranty as a part of my purchase. It is provided by Allianz. I assume the dealer does the warranty repairs and Allianz pays the claims to them.
I am covered until 4pm on 29/12/2012... that sounds like such a long time in the future...
Cheers,
Rob

I got a reply back from my Dealer yesterday on this subject.
Officailly LRA doesn't have an Extended Warranty yet. There were discussion late last year but no date or cost mentioned. So we live in hope.
The only other option at present is 3rd party ones like what is mentioned in this thread.

Did you organise it through Allianz yourself or did the dealer organise? as I am also keen on getting the extended warranty when my new D3 gets delivered in March

Hi David,
The dealer (Purnell) organised it - I had them add it as one of the options I wanted. I also got a quote from another dealer in Sydney and they added it on the quote too.
Cheers,
Rob

Denroyd,
I said:

So the dealer's finance person organised it. regards

Interesting.
I have had a conversation with Allianz and they only offer the extended warranty within seven days of new purchase.
I must keep digging as I was able to get an extended warranty with my old Disco II after two years.
Also noticed on the following site details of the Allianz product.

Bluddy marvelous.
Went back to my original dealer (purchased in Nov 2005) and was able to get the extended warranty and at a good price. Not as good as the original warranty regarding towing etc but it will give me some piece of mind.
Lo and behold - it is an Allianz product.
For further details PM me

I was recently offered a LRA Warranty Extension on my MY03 Discovery TD5.
Good thing is, when we collected our replacement D3, they decided they would extend the warranty anyway.
HOORAY!
I must check if they actually have. Dave
