EXTENDED WARRANTY RECOMENDATIONS
With 100,000 largely fault free miles coming up on my owned from new D4 I think its probably time to look at either getting shut or buying an extended warranty. Best deal I can find is with "Protect 4 Sure" anyone had any experience of them?

Personally I hate dealing with warranty companies, so many ways of not paying, or only authorising below rate labour costs, had one this week telling me to put 'starline' suspension parts from Euro Car Parts on an E class Merc.
I wouldn't fit starline parts to a pushchair.
If the crank went snap, I bet they wouldn't pay out. Put the premium in a savings account each year, and cushion any costs that way1994 Defender 300tdi 110 commercial

Warranty Direct.
Lots of information on WD via the search function...
Seems to be one of the (very) few that will cover the crank if that's your worry...

The cut-off at 4 Sure and generally is 100k which is in 750 miles for me and with 4 sure after acceptance there is no upper mileage limit. At £500 a year it seems like a good deal for the peace of mind a warranty provides.

The AA does quite a good recovery and repair package. I used its few times. They contribute up to £500 of repair costs if they recover you. D4 HSE EU6 (Known as Jeeves)

Whats the cover limit for claims? Is wear and tear included? Etc?
Unless its a good policy that will actually pay out, its a pointless waste of £500 / year

They are still in the market but they know their market... £3600 is cheaper than what you'll pay to replace an engine with a crank issue but then that's if you wish that level of warranty at 100k. And your 100k mileage is what they are risk assessing against.
Tricky mileage point that... I'd be tempted to run without engine crank cover but the again I'm some way from that..
There's no such thing as a free lunch, certainly not with a LR!
Let us know who you go with.Jim
