Extreme pics (24hr event).. check out the 55 degrees!
We had a 24hr event this past weekend. They were all extreme 4x4's, I was told I was crazy. I did survive 12hrs., but would not keep on exposing to heavy damage and my buddy (jeep jk) teared part of the chassis!...
I had my own set of failures, but had all the tools to solve them... Needless to say that the famous rear toe link bolt broke (again!). But this time I had the cordless drill, bolts extractor and spare bolt! Toe link bent, so used 5lbs hammer on it..
Tire came off rim. Mayor suspension fault (FCR saved me). Winch wireless remote stopped working (had corded one with me). Air jack exploded (but had 2 other jacks with me).
There were 15 teams, 1 car flipped over, 2 blew engines, 3-4 lost differentials or driveshafts, etc.... So, I did not finish, but did make it home...
Damage: 2 doors banged, most of the plastic flares ripped off (1 lost).
Here are a few pics... (not many available, no stopping for pics...)
A trick: don't tear the side, just use the ARB bumper to push against the mud wall, keep the rear off it!
I tried, but damage done...
Wow!
Had 1/2 my rear on the seat, the other 1/2 on the door... Pretty funky. Check out my sliders...
Having fun even if looking forward to fixing rear tire...

But great pics...post a couple in the "extreme" thread that has been hanging around for several months as I think they qualify... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

Top man for putting it through its paces.
I think SWMBO would have killed me if I had done that to mine though.
Hope there is not too much damage after the mud has washed off.For details on the next Kielder Safari click visit the Kielder Safari website

I'll post the trail coordinates later...
The damage was:
1. rear toe link...
2. Plastic mouldings. 1/2 were recovered.
3. all 4 door panels were pushed in (need to fix/paint) Argh!
4. RAI pushed in the front quarter panel a little, easy fix.
Compared to everyone else, I'm ok. No estructural/engine/diff/tranny damage...-------------------

Great pics. Would beadlockers have prevented the tyre popping of the rim? I assume you'd aired down for some reason?Bodsys Brake Bible
