Fall in 4x4 sales "Not a green backlash" |
|
The blip in 4x4 sales, heralded in some parts of the media this week as evidence of a green backlash, is nothing of the sort, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.
Instead, half of the 5.5% dip in new 4x4 sales in 2006 can be accounted for a change-over in two popular vehicles in the class; the Freelander and Hondas CRV, according to Reuters website.
People hold back their purchase, waiting for the arrival of the new version, the Society argues.
And given that the overall car market was down 3.1%, there's nothing to suggest that the dip in 4x4 sales isn't entirely down to that change-over.

I know I called a cease fire, but this IS going on the GP forum. Lets see what they say, I want to hear their arguments.

Gareth, this is a legitimate thing to post and poke at them with.
Accusing a members mother of being a prostitute and posting supposed pictures of their mother is a completely different thing all together - in my mind anyway

Agreed, I think we should have some constructive debate, but not too much cos' there will be nobody left here
I tried a post-fest tonight with a little success.

In America there was a dip of 3% - SUV/trucks went down from 56% to 53% of all new cars sales. But now they're going back up cuz gas is cheaper again. Obnoxious! I'm not so good at giving advice...may I offer you a sarcastic comment instead?

Yes but these people need to be challenged with their own actions ...how much co2 is caused by them existing as an organisation...physical structure offices vehicles\boats and their members houses vehicles\ boats. What makes their use any more valid than anyone elses 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Because they are a sanctimonious bunch who believe they are right and the world is wrong.
