Just got a new battery, mine turns over about twice as fast as it did before!

This for TDV6?

My V8 cranks for about 1/2 to 1 second before it catches. I can check more specifically next time we run it if that’s help to you.

Like a stabbed rat, but for a second or two longer than I’d like, before catching and starting. My mates was similar a few weeks back but caught faster. Stabbed rat.
Not sure how I’d measure cranking speed. Maybe RPM in live values as I start? Recording as I turn the key? I’ll have a look later as I need to move it.
Will also record the fuel rail pressure and see what that’s doing.

I did once replace the starter on our old transit as it had a pathetic turnover speed (once a second, if at all), put the new one on and it also turned like a stabbed rat. Pulled the old one apart and I’d be surprised if more than 2 of the 6 (8?) brushes were actually doing anything. It really was feeble on the old one.

Here you go, cranking in the 200rpm range, after about 1sec the fuel pressure jumps from zero to lots, then it catches and starts before it settles into a (very rough this morning) idle. Hasn’t run for about 2 weeks so it had a bit of a smokers belch to start with.

That's exactly what i needed so yours spins over at 200 rpm 0% fuel pressure which builds, then its fires and climbs rapidly.
I must ask how do you get that graph on here as that's fantastic.

can anybody else post the same as a comparison mean while i'll have a go at doing the same (once i know how)

I think mines slower and only starts on the second crank.

Exactly as you read it yes, and also a TDV6. As I say it was a lumpy start after being sat for 2 weeks. Also just found a fuel leak I’ve been ignoring/hunting for a year Thumbs Up

That’s a logged live values on the GAP tool, then simply scaled to fit the appropriate timeframe/info, screenshot and post.

Well what a desaster got the graph but have no idea on how to record it , stop it, or post it.
As far as I could see my turns over at about 100 rpm I think! as it shot off the page also the scale was 0 to 500 to 1000 etc so need to change thar as well. Big Cry
Please post a numty guide of how to do this, as its awesome.

I'd be looking at earth straps. When you're pulling high amps, extra resistance will drop the volts at the starter which logically will spin slower as a result.

Fixed a mate's Cortina intermittent starting issues years ago ... undid everything except the 12v feed so it wouldn't crash to the floor, only for it to drop taking about half the copper of the cable with it and leaving the insulation attached to the other half.

Fortunately it didn't get damaged hitting the floor. Unfortunately that was because my face was there to break the fall. Laughing
