Fault Code Help / Ideas

Can anyone tell me wht the fault code P2199-22 relates to...?

And is it something I need to worry about for the next 10 days...?

Following on from this issue http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic34852.html, I went to the dealer this morning.

The head technician ran the diagnostic and came up with that code. He said not to worry; its not a serious fault especially as there is no loss of power, warning chimes or warning lights. Just the text in the display.

He ran a software update - but it came back at lunch time. But didn't reapper when I did the same distance in reverse just now.

--------------------------------------

P2199-22

Intake Air Temperature 1/2 Correlation

- Sensor signal amplitude above maximum threshold
- Intake air temperature (IAT) sensor circuit high resistance, short circuit to power
- Air charge temperature (ACT) sensor circuit high resistance, short circuit to power
- IAT sensor failure
- ACT sensor failure
- ECM failure

Check the IAT sensor and circuits. Refer to the electrical guides. For ACT sensor, refer to the relevant workshop manual. Refer to the warranty policy and procedures manual if a module is suspect.

--------------------------------------

TBH I haven't got much of a clue what it means but hopefully someone who does understand it can fill you in Thumbs Up

Thanks Paul.

I don't exactly know what it all means either...but does anyone think this is a sensor issue rather than another (real) problem actually causing the fault?

(Or am I looking for an easy answer instead of one that says "its a probelm with air intake since fitting the RAI..." or "radiator/intercooler problem and not cooling efficiently..." )

Was back at the dealer today for another check (as the fault registered again).

They did another check and confirmed that it is the sesnsor itself that has the problem - its not anything else causing the issue. They didn't have the part in stock to replace today.

Outcome - new sensor on order; no problems with driving with the fault showing.

I can go on holiday...

That's good news Thumbs Up But you have to ask why couldn't they have done this check yesterday and figured out that the sensor was faulty? Rolling Eyes

BTW...which sensor was it in the end? IAT o ACT?

well to be fair to the garage, I think today it was just a better explanation following the chance to run the second check. And didn't ask which one it was - I was more focused on the "no...your engine won't blow up if you go on holiday..." Laughing

Bringing this back to life on the off-chance of an additional answer...

THe "Engine System Fault" message came up 3 times again in the last couple of weeks (before now, there were no issues after the dealer changed one of the air flow sensors back in May). No other issues, power loss etc. Each time the message came up under the same condiitons - slowing right down straight after motorway speed.

Engine fan was running quite a lot on holiday - but not very noisy; not constant; and we have been in 30c+ temperatures so I have been putting that down to the Spanish sun.

I will take the car to the dealer to have a disgnostic performed. But seeing as this could be a repeat issue, I am wondering if the RAI is causing it...? Possible...? (P2199 is to do with air intake correlation and difference in temperatures between two sensors, I believe).

Or could it be a dirty air filter pad that is restricting air flow to one of the sensors...?

Post your thoughts, ideas, comments etc here...Thanks.
