Fault with Turbo
Had a whining noise coming from one of the turbos, so sent in it to the dealers yesterday. As no fault lights have shown they are having to do multiple test to satisfy Landrover that the turbo is actually faulty.
The biggest problem is that i am being told that to change the turbo it requires the body being lifted off the chassis ' joy'...
Anybody had any similar problems or know if this is the case, and if it is will it ever go back correctly?
Not the best with having only just covered 10,000 miles.
Well P....d Off.

Turbo isn't body off, and I've had one replaced on both my D3s. It's more fiddly and needs a mechanic with skinny fingers. Even body off is not too bad as ISTR it's only undo 6 bolts & lift. Is it a main dealer?? They might not have done many.
PS just seen D4 so above might not apply. Welcome to CFT (Club Fooked Turbo), there are some things LR do well and there are many they do badly, turbos are in the latter group and you have two of them!

Shouldn't matter what the do or how they do it, just tell them to fix it! If LR are playing silly b rs threaten to reject the car. And you want an equivalent replacement car, nor some Corsa or Freebie 2. Funny thing is at the factory tour the LRE guy was trying to sell the virtue of the new twin turbo set up over the old 2.7 as they would be so much better. Yeah!
Rant over, need another coffee!

I popped into my local dealers at the weekend, and was SOOO tempted to ask the salesman if one could be fitted as a dealer option, but didn't want to upset the site sponsor

Reading this through, first thing I'd check when you get it back are the six bolts holding the body on...

New turbo fitted... got the car back this afternoon. Hope they have put it back together properly. On a concerning note the Disco 4 the dealer loaned me also developed the same fault with one of the turbos while i had it. Maybe it is a common problem....
