As i've mentioned above,(or on the last page Whistle ) i've once been stranded and LRA who sent the AA couldn't fix it. My faultmate got me out of trouble and got me home, nothing that the FCR unit couldn't do. Are you sure that LRA or the AA could find you down some green lane miles for civilisation or even reach your location? I'm on my third D3 now and all have been within the warranty period ands its helped to go to the dealer with a "specific" fault rather then let them diagnose it.

The FCR only reads and clears the fault codes ( albeit it at the speed of light). If you wanted to get into it in more depth then the Faultmate MSV-2 is for you.

OK, out of the list it brings up in the video I reckon 80% is irrelevant to me, these are what I don't have to test on my car:

Cruise
Audio Amp
TMC
Touch screen
AFS Headlight
Auto gearbox
Telephone
Park aid (well I have back)
Tyre pressure
Rear AV
Audio head
Rear Diff
Sat Radio
HD Radio

Your right that non of the above would leave you stranded Shocked

All the rest would though Whistle

Suspension, terrain response, engine ecu, Egr etc etc

Its all down to the individual at the end of the day, i weighed up the options and decided a faultcode reader would help and went for a more dedicated unit rather than a general 1 plug fits all.

Well I tried to get the list off the video but I have since found that BBS had kindly fully listed it on another thread Wink

So highlighted is what I 'think' I have which is pretty much none of it :-

Here is the list:
V8 Petrol Engine Management
V6 Petrol Engine Management (Fitted in certain markets)
V6 Turbocharged Diesel Engine Management
Central Junction Box / Body Control Unit
ABS / ETC
Park Brake Module
Electronic Air Suspension
Restraints Control Module (Airbag)
Occupant Classification Sensor (fitted to LR3 (NAS) only)
Transmission Control Module (Auto Box)
Transfer Box Control Module
Rear Differential Control Module
Heating Ventilation and AC
Fuel Burning Heater
Instrument Pack High Line
Instrument Pack Low Line
Adaptive Front Lighting System
Integrated Head Unit (Radio) High Line
Integrated Head Unit (Radio) Low Line
Audio Amplifier Module
Satellite Radio Module
LCD / Touch Screen Display (Front Electronics Module)
Rear Entertainment Module
DVD Player
Traffic Message Channel
Television Module
Telephone
Steering Angle Sensor
All Terrain Control Module
Cruise Control
Parking Distance Control
Tyre Pressure Monitor

So am I subsidising the wealthy so they know if their satellite radio and other posh comforts are on the blink? Maybe the GS is THE model to have, less to go wrong Razz

Look at your list again Rolling Eyes

I think you'll find you missed out quite a few rather important modules that you do actually have....

I did say "think", if you can help it

Trust me I like buying it presents, so not being tight, just being realistic so I can justify it to my wife when she signs for the package Razz

Actually, you've missed off the most important one......

Suggests to me that you'd probably be best putting the money aside for something else.
