Flat battery?

Alternator not charging, hence flat battery?

Well that didn't last long. I went for a drive up to engine temperature and returned and parked up an hour later it's back the same problem so I changed the fuse again with a 15amp this time and had smoke coming up from the back of the engine bay so pulled the fuse and put in a 10 amp and smoke again.
This is all with the ignition off. Have now disconnected the battery.
Any help would be appreciated.

May be faulty condenser attached to gearbox electrics, that will blow fuse and stop vehicle being started and smokes when shorted. Mine went & was only about £25 to replace.

Would that be the radio capacitor on the side of the gearbox I've just read a lot of post regarding that being the problem also with the smoking from the back of the engine when replacing the fuse.
