Thanks - I already have an aux battery fitted, controlled by a VSR and therefore only connected to the main battery after starting the engine.
I'm pretty sure that sharing the load between the two batteries is not the way I'd like to go as it does away with the independence of the aux battery and leaves the chance of discharging both batteries at the same time.Jim

The traxide cuts the link between the 2 batteries if the cranking battery reaches a certain voltage, leaving enough to easily start the car. It just takes longer to get there as you are using both batteries together - good set up. It seems to have a good reputation anyway.
Can’t think how you could do it just from the Aux without some complicated solution as it would need to swap back to the cranking battery on start. I’m sure more skilled people than me could solve it though. Discovery 4 Landmark ‘16

That sounds great and it would definitely take the hurt out of the main battery. I'll have a look at it and see whats involved in changing it over from my VSR arrangement. Thanks for the heads up!! Jim
