FBH for camping?

Is there a way to use the FBH to heat the car (without turning ignition on) for camping/sleeping in the back of the car.Ideally a remote to heat the car when needed without running out the car battery, does it require a leisure battery perhaps or a voltage cutout!

It is possible, however, the modification is relatively expensive and relies on using the cars air blowers so if you intend to use it for night long heat it’ll drain the battery in short order.

You’re better off getting something similar to these, just need to have the heater pipe into the car and will last the night. Leisure battery is always recommended Smile

That chinese stuff doesn’t have any certification or approval!

Maybe in a shed, ok, but sleeping with such a uncertified chinese device?

If it goes only a little wrong ( carbon monoxide) you (and companion(s) are simply dead..
Someone can send The chinese an email with a complaint after such an event, but…..

Both webasto and eberspacher do have certifications and are approved for indoor use.
Eventhough maybe not youtube certified Rolling with laughter

I fitted LR genuine parts to enable the remote fbh off the key fob. Didn't cost that much and was easy to fit.

You could potentially use it to initially warm the vehicle whilst you are inside and awake or before you got in to go to sleep. Intake and exhaust are in the engine bay so little chance of being gassed with fumes.

With a bit of thought on sleeping bags and insulation etc it would probably be toasty enough for a night's kip.

I've got all the part numbers listed in one of my previous topics if you want them.

if you are thinking of using a fuel burning heater of any kind in an enclosed space a carbon monoxide alarm is a must have thing.

Moo. Didn’t want to get in a fight over Chinese v expensive purely recommending a type of technology thats used in millions on caravans, trucks and campers and Landrovers to provide heat on demand.
And yes, Paul’s correct regarding alarm. I’ve got one in my car for when I’m camping even without a fbh at the moment.
