If you didn’t have a way to gauge the temperature it would fire up every time you stop car and turn head lights off ( like drive to a shop running in and out also summer time ) the sensor is strapped to the coolant pipe telling the setup what the temps also when it’s stood over night it knows how cold it isMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Can’t see why not Phil so long as you find the wire on a indicator, try a test lamp to make sure
Like I’ve said the count down timer can be triggered as many times as you like with head lights or indicators but it’s the temperature sensor that has the final decisions on firing or not with your temperatures imputedMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)

Wouldn't the heater start when you lock the car though? You'd waste a lot of fuel if it wasn't fully up to temp after a short run.

Remote FBH also a must in minus temperatures if your Glowplugs are faulty/kaput.

My glow plugs are suspect
Have been starting g in the freezing mornings by pouring hot water over the temp sensor at the front of engine just under engine cover and has been starting straight away
Just thought I’d offer this up not my fix, I read it somewhere and thought I’d give it a go, and it works

Classic fan it depends on what range you set the temperature switch so it won’t fire after a set temperatureMetal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)

Makes sense
Mine works on the 3rd button remote headlight flash for 3 seconds, press again keeping the lights on for longer and you can also turn the FBH off.
