FBH GSM mobile controller unit - new SIM and owner

The previous owner fitted a GSM control unit to the FBH on my D3. It works with the third button via ‘follow home’ lights, but I cannot get it to work by putting a new SIM card in, previous owner removed his. Has anyone got any advice on how to reset the module as a new owner with a new SIM card?

What make is it?
Quite a few on here use the Altox, if so a search on here for 'Altox' will keep you occupied for a while.

This is the unit that I’ve got under the bonnet. Can anyone help to identify it, and with how I reset it so I can use it via text/call?

Would be really useful to have the extra range over the third key fob button!

Hopefully I’m not the only person with this type of control unit, and with this same issue!

All help greatly appreciated Smile

There was another post about this a day or two ago, I think the answer was that once the SIM has been registered you need to get BAS to reset it.

Text the letters HE to the number of the sim card you have inserted into your controller and it should respond with a load of help options and pairing to your SIM at the same time.

I’ve given that a go, but I don’t get any texts back, I’ve looked into the account I registered on the SIM and it’s sending texts out to another phone number, not mine?!

Does anyone know how I register my number to the unit so it will send the messages back to me?

Inserting the sim is a bit fiddley, make sure its properly orientated and double check all your wires Thumbs Up

I think everything is wired ok, as the SIM is sending messages out, just not to me. The only thing I can think of is that the number it’s trying to send to is the master number, which is a previous keepers old number. Is there a way of resetting the unit to factory default settings without using SMS from the master number??

That’s the bit I’m going to struggle with. Because the master user isn’t my phone. So I’m hoping there’s another way on the unit itself to reset it maybe?

The new sim card and the RF command should reset it. The command doesn't have to be sent from the originally paired phone. I installed a second hand unit, bobbed my SIM in and just text HE that registered the new sim and replied with a list of help topics. Thumbs Up
