FBH indicator

Does any one if it's possible to add a warning light in the cab to indicate when the fuel burning heater is actually running.

I believe it's actually working as it should, but for some reason the Altox controller does not seem able to start the unit, never detects a flame.

Thanks

you could take a feed off the heater. either the water pump or the fuel pump signal. Whatever gives a constant light.

You could stuff a red led into the hole behind the FBH symbol on the dash, if you wanted a discrete install.
I did this, without having to remove the speedo needles

Not the fuel pump, it's a pulsed signal. Use the coolant pump if you want a simple 12V source for a warning light.

the water pump is on a seperate connector, so it should be obvious.

seams to be the black wire, not brown!

Yes, the Webasto coolant pump has German wiring colours so it is the black wire for +ve.

This is what I did on my D3 years ago, I put a green led from the black wire on the water pump to the inside of the cab temp small air vent, so its not in youre face when running.

You will notice how much the FBH will run during cooler weather as well when normal driving.

I also extended the feed to a another green led to the front of the car behind the grill. so I can see when I fire the FBH up from my phone thats its running.

Flack Thumbs Up
