FBH Manual Start Button
Loving my new FBH Manual Start button installed (fitted by me - supplied by Beanie) for those occasions when the Altox App says no signal at the car and its -3 (Car Glowplugs are fubard).
However as pointed out elsewhere there is an anomaly in that after turning on the FBH with the button if you then close the drivers door the FBH will turn off!
I can/will avoid this by leaving the window open and pressing the handy button/light through the window.
Anybody know a way of bypassing this "irritation" just for completeness?

Is the button water proof? Could it be mounted outside? I could do with something like this as I often park where there is a poor signal. My problem is I couldn’t leave it unlocked or a window open where I have a signal problem.
Pete.IID, webasto software and workshop facility's available.

That would fit nicely either in the grill slats or the wing air intake.

Your button appears to be mounted on a D3... which probably does not help.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

this looks like a great idea to fit alongside the other bits I have from Beannie - what kind of switch is it? push to make contact or a switch that stays on once pushed?

It’s a momentary button, so you can change it to whatever you wanted to really.
I think the Altox one has a resister or diode fixed in place, will check tomorrow.
I wouldn’t use the one supplied for any external use as pretty are it’s not waterproof.Bodsys Brake Bible

Would you need the light on the switch when externally mounted ?
If not, i would look for something like APEM IP67 Push Button Switch.
We have been using them for years on our boat comms which are exposed to all weathers
Key is also to protect the soldered connections well (Adhesive Heatshrink and liberal application of Corrosion Block)D1 3Door (White) Long gone

I presume, perhaps wrongly, that the light in the switch is just a visual indicator - therefore no actual need for it really.
Those switches look great - I'm planning to mount it in the underneath of the drivers side wing mirror, so smaller the switch the betterformerly Disco3Ben

Is it not possible to swap the manual start button with something like a pir switch with a small remote control they are readily available (though not sure if suitable) that way when you can’t get an sms signal you can still control it from the comfort of the house?

Without trying to high-jack the thread, can a manual switch be put in, WITHOUT the additional App/Remote/Timed control?

On the early webasto (non d3) yes I think that was possible, but most cars use canbus systems of various varities and this is what is used to fire the fbh
This is why the oval timer is so popular as it runs off of 12volt but puts out the can/wbus signal to make the heater fire.
