| FBH Reference Resistance Wrong |

Hello. New to modern diesel land rover ownership, in common with many others the FBH does not work. Having purchased a diagnostic lead from the shop and downloaded the software, the fault reported is No 22 Reference resistance wrong.
Having had the heater apart and cleaned as per the most helpful How To's, there did not appear to be much wrong other than a lump of carbon around the Glowplug. Having reassembled and installed - same fault. All the components test Ok via the software and Glowplug resistance changes as the heater tries to start but faults after about a minute. Assumed the glowplug must be outside operating parameters bought a new complete burner and guess what - Still fault No 22 Reference resistance wrong...
The heater tries to start and produces lots of smoke if primed (can hear flame burning briefly) but never actually starts the fuel pump before locking out.
Any ideas ?

Greetings Cerbie and welcome aboard.
Have you tried removing the air filter and blowing air into the FBH whilst it tries to run?
Many owners have had varying amounts of success doing this. Mods:

Yes I did try it blowing in it once but not a lot happened. Seems it does not get to the fuel stage of the start process. I can only get smoke out of it if it is primed first (i.e. pump some fuel in manually).
To me the fault seems to imply a glow plug issue, but it is brand new and the resistance changes as it heats up all seem plausible. Incidentally the diagnostics for the plug resistance seem the same for the original burner assembly.
Maybe the reference resistance fault relates to something else ? Maybe a control board fault ???

You say you are priming manually...
Check the fuel pump works properly...

I used to get this problem persevere with blowing I just compressed air too blow it about but it is down to timing and blowing the right amount
