FBH won't start - Help!
I fitted a remote for the FBH last Feb and all worked well.
This season operation has been intermittent not always starting remotely but other times I get the tell tale smell of it working while driving.
It has never been smokey, maybe just a light puff when starting but never a lot. This led me to believe that the burner is clean.
Now when I activate the remote you can hear the various sounds as the FBH prepares to run but just as it seems to be in the ignition phase it stops and the pump carries on running for a short while and then all goes quiet again. Not had any lockouts recently and the false starting has happened 6 or 7 times in a row.
Does it sound like soot in the burner or failed glow plug or simply a lack of fuel?
Any help or pointers much appreciated before I go out in the cold and get my hands dirty!Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Mine did this just over 2 years ago and I ended up stripping and cleaning it and replacing the burner unit. It has worked ever since until Thursday morning! I have put up with a cold start until I read your post, checked Wiki and pulled fuse No28 for a few minutes. Replaced the fuse, tried the blip on my key ring (it has a BAS pre heat unit which I have had for over 6 years)and it is now working. For some reason it was locked out (I have read and cleared faults). So a quick tip, pull fuse 28, wait a few minutes and give it a try. Hope that helps.Nick

So I nearly worked out how to get the FBH out but I cant undo this electrical plug with the purple wire.
What is the method to release it please?

So I finally got the plug disconnected and removed the FBH
Once on the bench and dismantled it had a fair bit of carbon build up but not as bad as some i have seen posted on here.
Cleaned, reasslembled and got it back in the car for a test
Started up and ran for a couple of minutes, plenty of smoke! then it shut down.
Left for 10 and then I started it again and it ran cleanly for 30 mins.
Fingers crossed it will be start in the morning. Thanks to Robbie for the how to and other members who filled in the gaps and Bodsy for telling me how to disconnect the most difficult 2 pin plug!Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.
