FHB not starting every time
I have the remote conrtol for the FHB but it isn't working correctly.
I used it the first time, all lovely and warm inside. But the 2nd time the FHB didn't kick in. The blowers in the car and Front/rear screen heaters were on.
Pulled the control plug from the fhb as I'd assumed it was locked out. Tried again and worked. The following morning, tried again same thing, FHB didn't fire.
If I pull the control plug and reset it, it works fine once. Then second time nothing.
Fuel ok & Battery ok
Any ideas??Wot's that in Old Money

Does the FBH bring on both the front & rear screens?, even though the engine & therefore alternator are not running.. hope that battery is high capacity & well charged
PS - out of interest are you using the timer or remote?

I will check the screens. You have me thinking I imagined it now.
I am using the remote, which then blinks green every 3 seconds or so to tell me it workedWot's that in Old Money

Okay test done
when the park heater is on, looking through the window, the climate control 'AUTO' light is flashing
if I open the door and press the stop/start button, the front and rear screen buttons are illuminated.
So perhaps they don't come on
AND the thing worked without needing to be reset Wot's that in Old Money

Hi Heyloft - as a working FBH timer is quite a new feature at least for D3 owners, any chance of some photos in your gallery of the remote , and the on screen set up sequence etc, and some general feedback of how it functions?
Thanks

What was the ambient temperature when the thing didn't work? Maybe it was too warm for the brute to fire up?
I might be wrong but if you have it wired up for remote/timer operation, I think the remote/timer overrides the temperature input and the FBH will fire up no matter what the temperature is.
I do find I have to get pretty close to the car before my remote will work. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

The remote FBH won't work if you have low fuel or low battery. To keep the greenies happy, the cars don't charge when you rev them up or take them down the road for a sharp spin as the alternator dissengages to reduce emissons. It only charges on the overrun or braking. So if you fire the fbh today, go on a short drive with the heated screens etc on then park it up, chances are it won't work the next day.
Also, the remote isn't getting a signal back from the car to say it's working so the green light on the fob with blink for 30 mins even if you press your on button 50 miles away from the car.
Hope this helps. Been using the remote on mine for the past month and this is what I have found.
If as suggested the cars don't charge when you rev them up or take them down the road for a sharp spin as the alternator disengages then what happens when one drives a long distance on motorways without braking or overrunning - surely you will finish up with a flat battery.
Can this "feature" be disengaged by software?

A couple of clarification points:
1. Heated screens do not operate unless the engine is running
2. Although I don't have the details to hand, there is an upper limit on the FBH firing. Above that limit, if the timer is set, then the blowers operate to circulate air but the FBH does not fire up.

You can't beat that for service !!
Nice and warm it was inside this morning, all the frost gone, windows clesr, steering wheel warm (you don't need a heated steering wheel AND park heat)......... SWMBO commented on the lack of frost on my D4 while she was scraping her windscreen. Wot's that in Old Money

Heated front and rear screens will switch on automatically with ignition in low abient temperature (ie. when the snowflake is on). I've noticed this the last couple of mornings.
