Fibre optic harmon kardon system?????
I brought an iso lead but it only has the main connector, there are still 2 wires coming out of the disco (55plate)
One orange with a red led on the end and one small black box with red and black wires,.
I connected the main iso but the unit won't even turn on,. I reconnected the old stereo and it worked fine,. The other head unit is brand new so I'm not sure if I'm connecting it up right or it's faulty,.
I'll post a picture of the wires if there is any confusion
My disco has the harmon kardon, and it's a 6 disc with voice and Bluetooth,. Not sure if this makes a difference
Do I have the right stuff to connect the new stereo??

You have a amplifier in your car I believe so it won't work with that cable.
I haven't looked at the D3 wiring diagram, but when I have previously used these with cars with factory amps, I used the electric aerial feed to enable the amp and then had to reduce the output level of the head unit with resistors so that it was low enough for the amp input. If you don't do this with a amp you will have a very small volume adjustment window and high noise level.

Fibre optic harmon kardon system??
Hi all,. I've recently just found out that the stereo sound system in my discovery 3 is run by fibre optics,. And I'm trying to fit an aftermarket radio which just runs from normal wires
So here's my question
Is there any way to link up the new stereo to the fibre optic cables?
Please keep answers as simple as possible or break them down as I'm new to the whole car modding
Be gentle,............

He has posted 3 posts on this stereo change ... I told him of the pitfalls of doing this mod before he started... . But he seems to have ignored me ..G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
I'd seen two and thought give up or find out how to place the old H K in the boot, perhaps he's not yet aware if your reputation on all things electrical on Disco's and assumed someone else would know something you don't
For the OP
If Wiggs is saying you cannot do it, you cannot. Give up and recover your losses on the stereo an adapters, or follow his previous post and connect the old unit up in the boot Altox GSM FBH controller thread

You can buy a device which maintains the fibre optic circuit, keeping the circuit intact, but it still wont be any use, as everything goes through the head unit...My D3 Build Thread

Sorry guys been busy and Ive not been back on here to reply, no offence intended wiggs, I posted it on mods thing first and tried to post it on the technical thread but I didn't think it worked so I did it again just to make sure,. I'm not ignoring you buddy just had alot to sort out,. Plus I'm updating this on my phone so it crashes sometimes,.
So I'm guessing the new head unit is useless unless I connect it in the boot or something,.?
Oh and I didn't realise what fibre optic was until a couple of hours ago! Haha,. Like I said before I'm completely new to all of this so any advice is very much appreciated,. Sorry again if I anyone off, I really didn't mean to
And disco mike, I wanted to replace it because I don't listen to CDs, all my music is on my iPhone and my disco is a type 's' so no say nav, plus I wanted the optional DVD,. That's why I'd like to change it, cheers for the help anyway guys, I'll see what I end up doing and keep you all posted on here,.
