Finally got some justice for my write-off

So my previous D4 was written off March 2023 by an idiot who finally got his come uppance. Glad to get a bit of closure.

I have to say though, if we hadn’t been in the D4 though things could have been much worse

The dash cam footage is quite brutal, only watch if you’re sure it won’t affect you

Wow, I’m watching it thinking thank god you were in a Discovery looking at the damage to yours. I’m glad you can put it behind you at long last.

+1 Thumbs Up

Love the suspense sentence bit, not. He’s basically free to do the same again. Rolling Eyes

Shocked

Glad to hear everyone is OK. That's all that matters.

I read somewhere once something along the lines of "if you are going to be in an accident with a Land Rover 4x4, make sure you are sat in it" Rolling Eyes

That looked very nasty - and as others have said, could've been a lot nastier had you been in a vehicle with less of a physical presence. So glad you came out of it without any serious damage.

I hope you get yourself a good lawyer and absolutely take him to the cleaners to recover every single penny that this has cost you - replacement vehicle, compensation for the (no doubt considerable) time spent dealing with it and the inconvenience it's caused you, the cost of any physical therapy which might've been required to deal with any injuries or trauma, and so on. A short ban and a suspended sentence isn't enough - hit the tw*t where it really hurts, in his pocket. I'm not generally a fan of the 'litigation culture' which has gained so much traction in the UK in recent times - but in this case, I wish you well! I abhor drink-drivers with every fibre of my being.

Good to hear everyone is ok but looking at the dashcam it could take a long time to overcome the mental trauma

Just a pity the sentencing is so lenient given the police comments but that seems to be the norm these days

What speed were you doing at the time of the accident and what was the estimated speed of the other vehicle?

Saw this on the BBC website before I came to this site, thought the dashcam vehicle was a Discovery, I'm glad you were both okay. After seeing the amount of damage to the D4, it did it's job in protecting you.

Thanks for all the kind comments. My wife and I got away without any broken bones fortunately. The passenger in the other vehicle had many broken bones unfortunately. The D4 certainly saved us from much worse and I’m actually glad in a way that he hit me, could have been a lot worse for instance if it was one of my children’s hatchbacks.

It was a 30mph zone, I pretty much braked to a standstill, the emergency services estimated an impact speed of around 90mph!

I was awarded the maximum amount of compensation and not really worth pursuing further as he’s not been able to work since the crash.

Good old LR engineering though Smile
