Firewall access on D3

Busy installing two way radio. Had a look again for the so-called existing holes in the fire wall sealed by rubber bungs on both driver and passenger side. Now, unless I am f Censored ng blind or they changed this on the newer models - I cannot for the life of me find them. Or is it a case of removing the entire dashboard and other to get to it ?

I am not sure of the passenger side, but on the driver's side you need to grab a torch, open up the "spare" battery box and shine the beam down the firewall below the steering column. Not easy to spot, and not easy to access, but its there (at least on my '06)

Yep, open the spare battery box, use a torch & find it down there on the side of the steering column. I had a split charging system fitted and that is where they routed the cables for the display on the inside. I also fitted Tyre Pressure Monitors and routed the cables to the spare battery. The grommet is easy enough to replace from the engine compartment side. Gromet cut to get the cables to the center.
Open the panels below the steering by pulling downwards, Watch out for the metal spring clips that tend to jump off & get lost behind all the panels. A strong magnet found mine easily.

Have fun..... Idea

Thanks for the advice, I have in the meantime made an alternative plan :

I installed the antenna in the hole behind the glass roof (where the hse's have their gps or telehone antenna). The plastic cover pops off easily , getting the antenna fitted not that easy as it is very awkward to position and secure. Once this was done I fed the coax down the side panel and then very easy to the front. Thumbs Up

After all this I realised I will not be able to slide the table out from underneath the roof rack as the antenna will prevent this Big Cry - so spend an entire saturday to change the table set-up to slide out towarsd the side Rolling with laughter

Must say the antenna looks pretty cool sitting high up on the a Censored rse of the D3 Thumbs Up

OK Heine I expect your question soon - "pics ??"
