My first suspension failure! |
|
It had to be too good to be true...
Exactly three months old, and compressor failure! I now feel like a 'proper' owner.
I had one or two 'suspension failure' messages a few weeks ago, which disappeared after a quick switch off & back on.
Today Mrs L had to limp home as the bloomin' thing is giving constant error messages.
LR Assist told us that, as the vehicle is at normal ride height rather than down on its stops, then they can't help. Had to book into local dealer instead, who thankfully have a courtesy car on hand.
I'm hoping that this will be an easily- sortable issue, as we need to go to the Lakes on Saturday for 5 days.
Any suggestions as to what I should do if they can't fix tomorrow? Insist on keeping the courtesy car for the trip?
I have to say that lots of the previous postings on this board do not fill me with confidence, on either a quick resolution or the dealer competence to fix.
Oh well. Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

If a big problem contact your regional LRCS, not the local one. Takes a bit of effort to get through, but just don't let them palm you off.
Also ensure that an EPQR is done, it will help you and all of us in the end.

Rec'd the dreaded suspension fault messages and subsequently had my compressor replaced six weeks ago. Flawless operation since then.......until 2 days ago when the suspension faults returned. Able to clear these ones on "reboot" (which didn't work before) but not sure for how long. Goes in next week and will keep all posted... 2005 LR3 HSE

Please see the compressor failure thread in Issues as they appear to have sussed it on my car after 3 months on and off.

Anyone with more than one suspension failure, must have another issue, like wiring.

SUspension failure message is now intermittent. Comes on about 50% of the time when starting, and car is still driveable.
When the key is in the ignition and system checks are taking place, there is no 'bong' if it registers a suspension failure.
I'll get the dealer to look at it today, and make sure they raise an EPQR. Also want them to sort out some loose seat (headrest) trim, a sinking driver's seat and the randomly-crashing base CD player [there was a post recently suggesting a software update to cure this last one].
Fingers crossed!
Thanks for the suggestions thus far Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Your suspension failure has to be simply wiring, but the chance of the dealer finding it is nil

Hmm. At least I've got it to the dealer.
Nice people- trying to make a good impression- they offered my wife a brand new HSE demonstrator as a courtesy car. She declined in favour of a manual old Freelander, as she's not confident with automatics. I know which I would have chosen! Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Don't let them fob you off with a 'We will fit a new compressor' joke. Ask them why and get a copy of the EPQR as they often will say done it, but haven't. It takes a dealer about 20 mins to fill the thing out and they won't.
My dealer has to be forced and they are not bad.

Tell her she can use the auto in manual mode if she wants... she will love it

No a lot of people try to change gear with the brake pedal in an automatic, if they are not used to them which is really great fun.

Nice chap from the workshop has told me that there is an intermittent compressor failure and that they've ordered a new one to be fitted tomorrow morning.
Looks like the order backlog of compressors has been sorted then! Either that or they're quietly pinching off demonstrators / dealer cars /production line.
Given the previous suspension posts by others such as MVS, I'm a little sceptical that replacing the compressor will solve the problem. At least I'll have a shiny new compressor though (and probably the latest model incarnation).
They've done the stereo software upgrade without too much prompting as well. - or at least they've told me so.
The only real annoyance is that I can't drive the courtesy car as it's on their insurance and they've only seen my wife's licence. Rats. I quite fancied a blast along the local Roman roads tonight in someone else's vehicle! Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue

Can see the idea of you liking the new compressor, but will remain fixed on wiring as the cause.

Can see the idea of you liking the new compressor, but will remain fixed on wiring as the cause especially as it is intermittent.

I'm pretty sure that you will be proved right Brian.
I guess we'll be getting better acquainted with the local service department over the next few months then... Discovery 3 tdv6 7 seat Buckingham Blue
