Unless someone corrects me I believe the target needs to be left on the trailer.
There's a powerpoint version of the tow assist target in my gallery, or you could scan your own - will need laminating.
Here's another tow assist target http://www.disco3.co.uk/gallery/albums/use..._09_09.pdf MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand

I think I bought a 'Friday' car - following on from the first week probs it has now died in a most peculiar way. Coming home on Christmas Eve all the dash alarms, warnings, etc. started to flash. Pulled over to a layby and tried to Stop the engine/system to try and 'reboot' it but the start/stop button didn't do anything! Tested that I had brakes and steering and then drove gingerly home (only about 2 miles fortunately). Parked on the drive and again tried to 'kill' the engine - no. Phoned Land Rover Assist and, unsurprisingly late on Christmas Eve, was told that there were no techs available in our area. Spoke to one in Essex (I think) for guidance on how to kill it but to no avail - he had no bright ideas better than my bright ideas! How do you consciously stall an 'auto'? LR Assist eventually sent an AA patrol by which time (about 2 hours) the engine had stopped - I am 90% sure that it did NOT run out of fuel as I am pretty certain that it had about 75% of a tank. He tried his diagnostic 'brain' but couldn't get anywhere as the ignition wouldn't turn on. Ended up disconnecting the battery to kill the lights and that's how it stayed until Boxing Day when a LA Assist Tech turned up (the same one that came for the original problem!). His diag computer told him that there was 'no traffic on the high speed bus'.
Now with Guy Salmon in Bristol - fingers crossed but rapidly loosing faith in this particular car - love it when it is working but can't be doing with an unreliable car (particularly as I work with the ambulance service).
Worst part of all is that the replacement D4 HSE doesn't have a heated steering wheel
