Fitted LAZER Linear 18 Elite

Have been after some additional light on the front of the D3 for these dark days and nights, didn't want to go down the route of lack lustre LED spotlights so decided to go for Lazer Lamps very latest range called Linear.

I went for the largest, the 18 Elite version (as I only intend to do this once).

Fitted in a few hours using their new number plate mounts which didn't require any modification to the plastic number plate plinth. Such a slim design it blends into the front of the car nicely.

Lamp comes with anti theft fixings, I also bought their single lamp wiring kit. Luckily mine was able to be tapped into the LH main beam circuit rather than the CAN Bus.

Pretty easy to do overall, very impressed with the quality. Tested it last night for the first time and say it turns night into day. You don't need a 51" LED light bar with something like this.

Highly recommended.

I’d be putting some sort of security fixings on those. They wouldn’t last half hour round this way.

They come with security fixings and I don’t have that problem here.

Does the Linear centre mounting bracket (number plate) mounting kit, mount the light far enough back to ensure that it win't be damaged by the idiots who "park by ear" ?

I presume that the security fixings to which you refer are part of the Linear centre mounting bracket kit.

If the answer to both the above questions is "Yes" then I am sorely tempted.

Hi,

I didn’t use the centre mounting bracket and haven’t seen one in the flesh. So I don’t think I can comment on that. What I can tell you is the number plate mount is a new one designed for the Linear range and is two piece instead of one previously. The end brackets that come with the light attach to those, and can be used to bring the light forwards or backwards slightly.

Mine sits slightly proud of the plate, mounted forwards, mostly because I was excited to get it done in time for going away before Xmas. With a little extra fettling I could turn the number plate mounts around to mount it backwards into the bumper recess. I think it might need modification of the plastic number plate surround as it has a rounded lipped edge and is not flat.

The anti theft fixings come as standard with the mounting kit.

Will post some closer up shots. Used it in Cumbria in the dead of night and I’m very impressed.
