Fitting facelift bumper to non facelift car
Hi
Does anyone know if it’s possible to fit a facelift bumper to a pre facelift D4 and retain the earlier headlights and grille? Or will there be gaps or trimming required?
Thanks
Andy

powerfuluk.co.uk have all the parts in packs to convert D3-D4 or D4-D4.5 etc. along with fitting videos etc
even if you don't buy from them the videos are useful guidelines and are all on YouTube2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Think the grille is a different height which would be tight on the area at the lower corners of the grille on an early D4 oneMust stop buying shiny toys....

The newer 2014+ Grille WILL NOT fit with your lights but you can get a Powerful UK Grille that will fit and looks similar.
Plus you need a FILLER STRIP to as there is a gap.

Hi Andy
Sorry the grille from a MY14 car wont fit onto the headlights of the pre14 car as the cutouts for the lights are in different positions
Do you have the bumper already? The picture RogB posted is for the fitment of the stick on foglight covers that stick proud of the bumper to look like MY14 ones
If you have the bumper already I thing that you might have to do the whole lot in one go, lights grille and bumperMust stop buying shiny toys....

Just so I’m clear I have a genuine facelift bumper. So want to use that, plus the original headlights that are fitted and then a powerful UK grille and filler strip. Does that all sound ok?
Thanks

The filler strip is to use MY14 headlights and grille with a MY13 or earlier bumper as it closes the gap that is left as the new grille and lights are smaller - the bumper shown in that ad also hads the stick on fog light covers fittedMust stop buying shiny toys....

Hi Yes I have a bumper or was just about to purchase it at least but if I have to do the whole lot I won’t! My current bumper has fogs but no pdc and needs a respray really so thought it may be easier to replace the lot but can’t find a good prefacelift bumper.
Alternatively I do have a pdc bumper loom, so if I get the sensors can I just drill the current bumper and then have it all sprayed?
Thanks for all the help

The shape and size of the corner of the headlamp will foul against the original grille - you cant change the grille to a new shape one as the headlamp holes are different so it will mean to basically change all at once or cut the corners of the existing grille to try to squeeze it inMust stop buying shiny toys....

Hi Andy
I am looking to put a MY14 front bumper onto mine and had gone throught the various options as I already have the lights and grille which I have just fitted
I havent sourced a bumper yet but was on my list of things to do this week!
On the D3 the park sensor fitted into a bezel that was added to the bumper to mount the sensor, you could drill the hole, add the bezel for each sensor and the bumper loom and connection to the vehicle loom was behind the headlight. After 2008 they stopped fitting this onto the lower models of D3 and Im not sure if the loom is on the base models of D4 - perhaps someone can confirm
Certainly the new style D4 parking sensors are a different fitment to the D3 so it would be worth checking the rear of your existing bumper to see it has the mounting clips moulded in as they dont have the bezel.
If you have a loom behind the headlight to connect the sensors to but dont have the clips moulded into your bumper there might be a way to add but bight be hassle - someone will be along to confirm shortly Im sure
Good Luck! Must stop buying shiny toys....

Thanks, I have a mail out to the PowerfulUk guys as well to see what I can do. I do have the connection behind the headlamp and a sensor loom which I bought a while back. But not sure on the bezels behind the bumper. PowerfulUk do a few different grille options to fit with the existing headlights but I think they all retain the original pre facelift bumper. I guess that would mean they are too big to fit with the later bumper.
Will let you know how I get on.
Cheers
Andy

I found these pictures a while ago, this is how it would fit with the D4.0 grill with D4.5 bumper, I think a bit of fettling to the grill and it would fit, with the lights not fitted I couldn’t be sure the bumper was fitted in the correct position.
