Fitting Terrafirma raised air intake

I’ve bought a terrafirma raised air intake/snorkel and getting ready to fit it. Just thought I’d ask if anyone else had fitted one before I start drilling holes!!!
The instructions are very basic pictures.

My real query is that it looks like I have to remove the drivers side upright front roof support fascia trim. Not sure what the technical term is? So I’ll try and include a photo.
It seems I need to drill into the support underneath as well as the outer panel to fix the snorkel into?
This makes sense I think as otherwise the snorkel could just pull off the outer upright trim as it’s only held on with plastic clips.

I’ve checked on YouTube and most of the videos are of different types of snorkels. Or don’t show this step.
Any help would be great
Thanks

if the part number of item you got is TF1040 which is copy of Lr RAI
yes you need to drill at least 3 holes in vehicle body on on top on a pillar under that trim panel as well as through it to install riv nuts

and two in the Disco wing just above air intake

you should have a template provided in packaging where the wing holes should go

i guess it is this you need to watch for more guidance ? :

Good luck

Yes, you need to remove the OS windscreen pillar trim, enlarge the relevant top hole, fit a rivnut, then spacer, before putting the trim back on.
The metal plate at the top of the RAI then bolts through the trim to the rivnut.

But, if it’s anything like mine, the RAI bracket that it bolts through isn’t a straight fit and needs a bit of fettling.

Also, make sure you’ve got extra trim clips to replace the ones that snap.

I take it you do know that you need to drill two holes above the side vent area?
Make sure you dab some paint around the drilled holes.

Another tip: I used some old bicycle inner tube to put over the metal lugs on the RAI that fit into the side vent aperture.
This was to stop any metal to metal contact and resultant paint/rust damage.

HI, yes mine must be the same as the one you installed. That makes it a bit clearer.
Good idea with the old inner tube as a gasket.
The 2 holes the side wear pretty clear.
Watched the video above. Mine seemed slightly different.
Thanks just was worried about drilling holes in my D3 as it still looks very nice!
Going to go for it.

The A pillars are really hard to drill. A good supply so good bits is needed and plenty of time.

After several hours of trying and destroying multiple drill bits I marked the the hole points with a marker pen and used decent nail punch

Popped the necessary holes straight in, once the initial penetration was made I simply kept going until they were the right size for the rivets.

If I was to do it again I wouldn't even get the drill out
