no you should be fine

the fault in the early days was factory installed kits that had not had the earth wire attached properly.

I want to wire up my trailer plug on the boat trailer. Is that special LR plug available in Australia and does anyone have the wiring detail ?

The black socket is the standard large 7 pin that can be purchased just about anywhere in Australia. I have not seen the white plug that is used for the caravan auxillary circuits in Aus, I sent to the UK for a couple of them, they cost around AU$24 for two including airmail postage. Both sockets are wired to the UK standard, same as Aus for the black one except for the electric brake, pin 5. There is also a pulse on the indicator circuit that I think is used to detect when a trailer is connected.
