Flat battery

Picked car up from garage after spending out for a new turbo/ brake discs/gearbox oil leak and some other bits , came of today to take my daughter out for birthday lunch - wouldn’t turn over . Jump started it a bit later and took it for a 20 mile drive, checked terminals and found positive a bit loose , had to put a small bit of metal inside clamp to get it solid tight, seems to be 14.1 v running down to 13.6 under load when tested prior to run, came back turned it off - click won’t start - battery has 12.9v and is 2 months out of 4 yr warranty 🙄 no battery light on ? Is this likely to be alternator or battery?? It’s on charge at the moment until I can get it to run and test charge voltage - have to repair volt meter first 🙄 what should voltage be?? Heard disco is higher than normal- 15v ?

TIA

Volts are only a rough indicator, let battery stand overnight and recheck voltage.

After standing and not connected to anything, 12.6v is perfect, anything over that is suspect, anything much below 12.3/4 volts and the end is in sight.
Cheap battery condiiton meters on ebay for under 20 quid.

I am nearly at 3 yrs on my Yuasa and I reckon this winter will kill it, Exide 18 mths doing same work/route/driving, proper carp battery.
Mine does lots of short journeys, and volts read pretty much 15v all the time.

Going to get a battery tomorrow from Halfruads yuasa 110ah about £100 then retest

Hoping that will do it , if not have to order a alternator- I hear only to fit a denso???

The exide is pretty mcuh cheaper than all the rest out there, and there is a reason for that!

You want an 109 to fit in the hole, they are pretty much all around 100amp ish.

Lasted 4 yrs so not bad for £90!
Bought a yuasa 100amp 5 yr g/t this morning , fitted
13.9 charging voltage 😞

Think the disco requires more?? No battery lights on everything works

Reset all the faults that showed up due to battery flat with iid tool

Think I may need an alternator too 😥

13.9V should be fine.
Don't worry yet.

Got alternator all ready to go, stripped down pies etc - can I get the fan off??? No it’s welded on😡😡😡😡
Over an hour spent trying different ways to loosen it- jam the pulley without success, gave up put it all back together

😞😞
