I've just found out that I have to get an A4 envelope with some important signed documents from nr. Bournemouth to Oviedo in Florida, and it absolutely must be there by Wednesday 8th.
Anyone any idea's? I'm happy to drive them to Heathrow if that helps because I'm starting to realise that most of these places that advertise next day delivery are actually lying!
[rant]
Parcel force are unbelievable. They have a depot near me which is open today and blatantly advertise 'Global Express' which give next working day delivery to the US.:
Quote:For that urgent parcel which has just got to be there, our fastest international service is globalexpress. Delivery is from next working day to the USA, Canada and Europe and from 2 working days to the rest of the world.
So you'd think that leaving it today means it would leave at least on Tuesday (Bank Holiday Monday in UK) and get there the next working day, i.e.. Wednesday - sorted... NOT. Apparently 'Next day delivery' means from when they feel like putting on a plane which might be two days after you've dropped it off!
[/rant]
They are useless !!!

I would take it but its a long drive to heathrow from fife.
Then when you check in they ask did you pack your bag yourself or are you carrying anything for anyone your
fu ed
Obviously you can't fax/email them then
Stand at the Florida check in and look for a trusting soul who might do it for you. Big chance to take
Good luck. D3 57 xs Stornaway grey

I could take it to Mykonos on Tuesday but I don't think that's going to be any help.

I think you would struggle to get anyone to get any stranger to take any form of package/envelope on a flight these days. FedEx surely do a 24 hr service ? Why cant they be scanned ? Club N.E.R.D's

Wouldn't be a problem if the envelope is opened on handover, seen by the carrier as "just" being papers and then reinserted into the envelope by the carrier. Then the answer is "of course I packed everything myself".
As long as in English and not Arabic (or some other language) and not plans for the next jihad or to conquer the universe.

FedEx are saying they can deliver on weds.
If you can get it to LHR first thing.
ITs always a risk as planes get delayed, weather, strikes etc but no one else comes close when its the USA.
UPS only offer 48hrs for example and as for the rest................hmmmmm.
Up to you chap - be glad to help if I can.

Thanks for all the help... I actually have a FedEx account and they insisted they could only get it there by Thursday. Don't know why they were being funny, normally very good. They didn't seem to be able to consider anything unusual or want my business?
Anyway, in the end it was DHL who came up trumps, and I only had to get it to Southampton... They've said Wednesday lunchtime which is great.
If it works they'll get my future business just for trying.

By way of an update in case anyone else has to ship documents abroad, and sort of predicted by bigdave:
DHL promised the earth and couldn't deliver
This is after repeated assurances, hand delivered to Southampton depot and a promise to call me if there was an doubt or problem. My important documents have now spent over 30 hours sitting in East Midlands with no explanation and my deadline was missed. Really let me down and I'll never use them again for anything.
Useless.

That's poor. If this has cost you financially what's their compensation/complaints procedure. Club N.E.R.D's
