folding mirrors....available or not? |
|
From the research I have done so far it appears power folding mirrors are not an option on a D3 in Australia regardless of model.
Can someone clarify this is definitely the case?
I won't be able to buy one without this function as my garage is too small

Folded mirrors are, it seems to me, a good idea (while less vulnerable):
a) when you are parked in crowded High Street and lots of people walk by
b) when passing through the car wash
c) when parked in narrow streets where lots of cars drive by
d) when parked in areas where vandalism is part of everyday (night)life
etc. etc When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead, remember what the dormouse said: feed your head. (Jefferson Airplane)

Quote: If it's that tight how are going to get out of the car??
The actual garage itself is not all that tight, it is the entrance
Quote: They only go in a few inches each side, is it really that critical?
It is two inches each side that is saved with the mirrors in.
Yes it is that critical.

What about getting an angle grinder to the door pillars
EG some nice D4 mirror-shaped slots

Also it seems not to be clear if it is possible to retrofit power folding mirrors on a D3 who has none. There have been a few questions and answers on this, some time ago, but as far as I know it has never been sorted out wether is possible or not

It seems that after 5 minutes of driving in the bush around here, my mirrors "self fold". It's best to do this going forwards, not backwards Jim Dowell - D4 HSE TDi, 12,000 hydraulic winch & hidden winch mount, MTRs, TyreDog, Traxide 2 x aux battery system, fixed air compressor, Dolium roof rack, MitchHitch.

I've decided to just pull the mirrors off altogether.
Has anyone ever driven a car without mirrors?

No problem for the new D4 with surround cameras... When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead, remember what the dormouse said: feed your head. (Jefferson Airplane)
