Didnt work on my MY11 D4.
Shame really as I reverse into my spot and reverse lights would give me the light instead of my driveway in the opposite direction.

odd mine is a MY11 and has, Another act of randomness atributed no doubt to some trainee on the assembly line.It is better to have and not need it then need and not have it.

My 07 LR3 did it, but I reprogrammed it to open the tail gate. Bit more useful for me,17 Discovery 5 HSE Si6, Fuji White on brown | 07 LR3 SE 4.4 Java Black on Alpaca

Its probably one of those options that a dealer can turn on or off and they decide what to do unless you tell them different.
